Why We Like The Escalade Cot
We pull Alps Mountaineering's Escalade Cot out of its stuff sack and set it up in seconds for a good night's rest at the campsite. This fully connected cot requires no assembly with separate parts, so it's easy to set it up in the dark after stargazing around the campfire. The Escalade's sturdy construction includes steel connectors, a telescoping center support, and angled end legs that prevent any rocking throughout the night. The Escalade Cot packs up as easily as it sets up.

Too large for the tent!
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
- Size Bought:
- XL
- Height:
- 6' 2"
- Weight:
- 195
I ordered this for a Christmas gift for my 18 y/o grandson. It was easy to set up and the quality seemed good. It is sturdy, large and rather heavy, so it's definitely for car camping, as others have posted. Sadly, we opted to return the cot because it was too large for his tent. If you're a tall person with a large tent...this is a great choice.

Extremely heavy, but well-built

However heavy you think this is going to be, I can almost guarantee it?s heavier. Definitely for car camping. All-metal frame. I got the XL because I?m 6?2?, and it?s plenty long for me. It can be a bit finicky packing it down and putting it back in the bag. Careful to not bash your shins with the metal tubing in the process (which I have done many times now!). I?ve owned this for years and it?s built like a tank.

Great for car camping
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
My go to for a car camping outing. A little too heavy to lug around on a on foot camping trip but makes for a cozy nights rest.

Adequate for the job
Sturdy and comfortable but I wouldn?t recommend lugging it anywhere too far.

Awesome!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Been good to me so far, the cot has held up great from going to Moab and Mt. Hood so far. No doubt this will last me 10+ years and is going to be coming with me on many more adventures! Fair price as well, I would reccomend this to anyone looking for a Cot.

ALPS Escalade Extra Large Cot
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- Extra Large
- Weight:
- 153
Been sleeping on this extra large size cot since it was received from BackCountry in my residential living space, a month ago. Spacious dimensions of the extra large size cot allow for the side to side, back and stomach various sleeping postures of a night's sleeping pattern. Room for arms, legs and feet repositioning in sleeping postures. Cot is 20" height from floor, so I experienced some figuring out best method of transferring self from cot to floor, as feet are several inches above floor. Recently I placed a Thermarest sleeping air filled pad on the cot. Better access to floor with feet with increased height of sleep pad and is even more comfortable. I have also placed a cotton sheet on the cot's sleeping surface and then Marmot synthetic bag unzipped for blanket like covering and slept well. The cot seems thoughtfully designed and constructed of quality materials. Willow green very nice color and sturdy weight fabric. Took some adjusting making transition from sleeping on the floor with backpacking air mattress to the ALPS Escalade Extra large cot but am pleased with results. Weight is 28 lbs +- and not for backpacking practical use. So far I've been using this cot for residential at home sleeping system and am very satisfied with quality sleeping cot performance and comfort. Very satisfied with this purchase and Thank You BackCountry for the very fast shipment of this item, much appreciation.

Cot much heavier than listed -- 27lbs!
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
To avoid future returns, Backcountry should correct the "Claimed Weight [large] 16 lb, [x-large] 17.5 lb" to the more accurate 27lbs! Did not get the cot out of the box, so I have no opinions on the item itself since it was too heavy for me to lift. Backcountry did provide easy return since item was not as advertised.
