This is an optional set of Traxxas Steel-Spline Constant-Velocity Front Driveshafts, intended for use with 4x4 and 4x4 VXL models of the Hoss, Rustler, Stampede and Slash kits. The driveshafts are engineered to satisfy the performance and durability needs of the most demanding drivers. Designed specifically for monster truck applications, these shafts are built to withstand the brutal torque of Hoss’ 540XL motor and the massive grip of the huge Sledgehammer tires. Traxxas’ unique, splined telescoping design delivers full-range articulation, so there is never a need to limit suspension travel. Since they are made by Traxxas, you can count on easy installation and perfect fit in your Traxxas model.

Traxxas Steel-Spline Constant-Velocity Front Driveshafts (2) (Complete Assembly)
Let me please start this review by saying the product itself is amazing! The front/rear are quality steel driveshafts, however, this is the singular problem (and one you're all likely familiar with): Traxxas includes grub/set screws that are far inferior to the high-quality stainless steel versions from "The Original RC Screwz" (sold on amain hobbies), or similar versions on the market. I installed the front/rear driveshafts and was immediately stoked about the purchase until I started having inevitable issues at the outdoor off-road track.

The grub/set screw became stripped and is impossible to get out. Because of the low quality of the set screw, I'm going to have to take my short course Slash 4x4 into the shop to have help removing the screw. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN TO INSTALL THE HIGHER END SET SCREW FROM RC SCREWZ right off the bat, thereby avoiding this issue. However, now I feel I'll likely lose the $180 I spent on the set of driveshafts.

Buyer beware... these are amazing but you NEED to install higher quality grub screws when you install them, otherwise, you're up to $hit creek without a paddle. They're far too expensive to waste on something as minuscule as grub screws.

I wish I could give 2.5 stars. I'm 50/50 but only because of the forementioned reason. So frustrating!

UPDATE:

As always, amainhobbies.com is more than present when it comes to customer service, a rarity these days! The scrub screws stripped completely and to the point I needed to have my local hobby shop help me remove the struggled driveshafts. The product is amazing, but it's important to use HIGH-QUALITY hex drivers to avoid the problems I've been dealing with. Luckily, amainhobbies is helping me replace the product and a lot of it has to do with user error on my part.

Veterans will have no problem with the product, but as a newbie returning to this world, mistakes happen. I'm thankful the online distributor backs us up when things happen like what I've explained above.

The product is stellar. Be careful when installing and working on the vehicles, use high-quality hexes, and keep using amainhobbies who'll back you up should things go awry.

Updated to 5 of 5 thanks to amain!

Way stronger than the plastic ones and an easy drop in upgrade, my only complaint is they will get surface rust fairly quickly but that has not caused any performance issues.

I have a friend who got this for an early Christmas present. Besides the price, they are better than titanium. This is because titanium is bridle. I have seen them break a lot. He has it on his Traxxas hoss and he abuses it the driveshafts broke a lot. Then he got these they are being abused but they have not broken to this day.

These are a must have. I am running a Hobbywing Max8 combo with 2200kv motor in my Rustler 4x4. These axles have handled the power no problem. Highly recommend.
