The Western Mountaineering Flash Booties weigh an average of 3 oz (85 g) per pair in the. 1/4 inch foam insole provides just enough warmth and support beneath your feet while the 12 Denier ripstop nylon shell allows the down to reach its maximum loft potential. A simple elastic draw closure above the ankle keeps the cold air outside while your feet stay cozy and warm. At just 1 1/2 oz (42 g) per foot these booties must be packed away or on your feet because they are light enough to blow away on a windy day if you leave them out.image

Just what I needed.

Although I have a 20 degree sleeping bag, my feet tend to get cold and sleeping socks weren't enough. I've been trimming weight from my backpack, and these booties do the trick for just a couple ounces, although I wouldn't wear them outside the tent. My toes were toasty on windy nights in the 30's on the Colorado Trail.

These have just enough down fill to make them worthless. It could be a great product if they weren't 3/4 empty. They also seem to run big. "My size" was way too large...but I don't recommend ordering them anyway. I returned them.

Adjustable ankle straps rock!!!

Others have solid elastic ankles, these have a drawstring so you can adjust them and sleep.

Q Can these be worn outside the tent? What is the outer/sole?

Thank you for your question. The sole is "70 denier coated nylon rand and outsole" they also have 1/4" sole foam as well. They are intended for inside use, tent, and within your sleeping bag. Using them lightly and seldom outside should be fine! Let us know if you have any additional questions.
