Although I have a 20 degree sleeping bag, my feet tend to get cold and sleeping socks weren't enough.
I've been trimming weight from my backpack, and these booties do the trick for just a couple ounces, although I wouldn't wear them outside the tent. My toes were toasty on windy nights in the 30's on the Colorado Trail.
These have just enough down fill to make them worthless. It could be a great product if they weren't 3/4 empty. They also seem to run big. "My size" was way too large...but I don't recommend ordering them anyway. I returned them.
Thank you for your question. The sole is "70 denier coated nylon rand and outsole" they also have 1/4" sole foam as well. They are intended for inside use, tent, and within your sleeping bag. Using them lightly and seldom outside should be fine! Let us know if you have any additional questions.
