Sure the pad is comfortable. But for an piece of expedition gear, this tore on the first night of use. As I rolled from belly to back to get up, the zipper on my sleeping bag was enough to tear a 2” gash in this pad. I repaired the hole which worked well but as soon as it touched the ground again, it was easily punctured by practically nothing. This became a huge headache on my last trip. I won’t give any more of my money to exped in the future and I recommend you to do the same.

A Big Upgrade from the Usual

After numerous bad experiences with the more mainstream sleeping pad brand (therm-a-rest), I decided it was time to branch out. The vertical baffles on this pad are significantly more supportive, the increased thickness is plush (I now use this for both backpacking and traveling), and the inflate and deflate valves are a WINNER. All around a great pad and definitely significantly better than therm-a-rest. It is not the lightest, it is not the greatest R-Value to Weight ratio, but the overall durability, comfort, and inflate/deflate-ability genuinely outweigh these downfalls in my opinion.
