P.R.O. Air Bib Short

Worrying about weight has become a cliché in cycling, but there are some days where every gram really does count. The PRO Air Bib Shorts are for those days. They’re Pearl Izumi’s lightest bibs, and they’re equipped with a suite of features—cooling French fabric, Pearl’s top chamois, and so-pro lie-flat bibs and leg cuffs—that leave no doubt about they’re intended use. And though Pearl intended them for multi-peak days and 100-mile races, we’ve taken to wearing them on any ride when they’re not in the wash.

Feels Like Air

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

The material of these shorts is amazingly breathable and light feeling while riding. The chamois is excellent but is also my main criticism. It has a loose fabric layer on top of the chamois that flaps around down there and eventually finds a cave to hide in. It can be quite awkward to deal with. Even with that, they have become my new favorite pair, especially in the summer heat.

Disappointed with Pearl Izumi

These are very light and don't seem like they are built to last.Shoulder straps are paper thin. When standing chamois seems to want to ride up your crotch. Not a fan of the chamois compared to previous years pearl izumi shorts. Was my favorite brand but the quality that was once a given for this company is seriously lacking.now days.Have been exploring other brands and Assos,Castelli and Le Col all make a much nicer quality bike shorts for the money

Satisfied but

I have been buying the top of the line Pearl Izumi bibs lately and really like them. They seem to fit well, are durable and as many have described the bib shoulder straps simply "disappear" when riding. The chamois is very comfortable as well. I purchased these bibs as they were touted as having the same chamois which is true. They are reasonably comfortable in that department. The biggest difference is in the bib material itself. The material is definitely not as soft. It has an almost paper like quality with the shoulder straps being more noticeable. They seem less "stretchy" so they tend to ride up my thighs more and require more adjustment during the ride. Overall I'm satisfied but primarily because I purchased them on a wicked sale @ $130 so for that price I would say they were a good purchase but in the future I will pony up for the top model because they feel like you are wearing next to nothing.

Liner issues

The liner pad was comfortable when wearing but the stitching that holds the liner pad to the bib is very coarse. The liner stitch start and end point where it over laps is right on the sit bone area. One 40 mile ride and the stitching left a 2 inch abrasion on my skin.

Too short and not a fan

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
XL

I wear XL and the sizing of these is just a bit smaller than the PRO XL. The straps are very thin and do not stay flat, because they roll up. So its like the top of the strap digs into your shoulders. I also noticed that they appear shorter, meaning in order for them to lay comfortably on your shoulders you have to almost give your sac a wedgie. NOT A FAN AT ALL

I have two PRO race kits that are 5 years old. They're still like new. The leg cuffs haven't stretched into something that looks like leprechaun bell bottoms. I do longer rides in them.
