Picked this up for a backpacking trip I to the Grand Canyon. Too small to carry a 1 liter Smart Water bottle. Held the 700 ml bottle fine. The elastic straps that secure it to the shoulder strap will not last long term and will end up stretching out over time. I was able to attach the top clip to a loop on my pack which held it in place, but because it was non adjustable it rode too high. Probably ok for short term use but not robust as a quality back country accessory.
Added two of these to complete my OV Shadowlight 60L Ultralight backpack. Instead of clipping off the tag ends of the shoulder straps as per the installation instructions, I simply sliced the stitching with a razor blade, installed the strap pockets, and then refolded the tag ends after applying superglue to the webbing folds. Looks like it came from the factory and the pockets work great!
It’s amazing and can hold the water bottle or phone .
I'm liking it a lot. I looked for options for my shadow lite and this works perfect to keep a water bottle in reach. I'm going to order one more for the other shoulder strap.
The problem with mounting, is that the shoulder strap can’t be removed even with trimming the fold over. I ended up mounting this on my Hyperlite Porter 4400 which has bigger plastic hardware which allow straps to be removed. Product itself is sweet.
