Why We Like The Niad VCS Climbing Shoe

If our route has more than three pitches, we strap on Five Ten's Niad VCS Climbing Shoe to keep our feet happy for a day on the wall. The unlined upper lets our feet breathe while providing weather-resistance, durability, and buttery smooth softness no matter how cold it gets at the crag. Since the microfiber upper doesn't deform with age like leather, we easily get three resoles out of every pair.

Details

  • Beginner climbers' one-quiver shoe or cragsmen's multipitch shoe
  • Flat with low curvature for all-day comfort on the wall
  • Stealth C4 rubber is Five Ten's classic compound for optimal grip
  • Medium-stiff midsole gives support even when not strapped on tight
  • Unlined synthetic upper feels soft like leather but stretches less

It is good

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The perfect all-in-one shoe. I tend to get through a pair every 4.5/5 months, climbing 3 or 4 times indoors per week.

Do not buy these

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The most uncomfortable climbing shoes I have ever worn. The sizing is completely wrong too - you need to buy 1.0 sizes above your size for them to even fit, I’m a 9.5 and the 10 are unbearable

Great shoe

Sizes small but don’t mind a tighter fit. After a couple times wearing the shoe it was fine

My size 9.5, only 12.5 fit, Not true to size

Order 3 sizes bigger. Very comfortable. I’d suggest to anyone

I am very happy with this purchase

This was a very good purchase, was a little small so I had to get a bigger size than normal.

Still a classic

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fits true to size, seems like a tall toe box so it's best if you're toes are slightly curled.

Really impressed with these shoes

Really impressed with these shoes for indoor bouldering. Very comfortable after a few sessions to break them in. No shoe will do everything, but this one allows me edge and smear with high trust in my feet. The rubber is great, stiff enough to stand on small chips, but still sticky enough for volumes and smearing. They even performed well on overhang. I feel like they just keep getting better as they break in.

Great shoes. They run large! Size down.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Awesome shoes, they just fit significantly larger than other Five Ten climbing shoes I've used. Specifically they run about a half size larger than the Five Ten NIAD moccasins. I wear a 10 in the moccs and the 10 in these was nowhere near fitting, had to size down to a 9.5.
