Ghost Whisperer S Jacket

Following in the footsteps of Mountain Hardwear's ultralight jacket that you know and love, the Ghost Whisperer S Jacket brings the featherlite warmth back with a unique silhouette. The S retains its competitive edge on the warmth-to-weight ratio scale with 800-fill down insulation and a savvy 10D x 10D ripstop shell, keeping its additional weight to your pack at a mere 7 ounces. And when it's not packed down oh-so-small into its own pocket, it makes a most convenient layer between you and the freezing weather at the resort, or during an early-morning belay, or on windswept ridge trails. Nikwax-treated down won't lose its valuable loft if it gets wet in that waist-deep pow, and the Whisperer face fabric defends the sharp wind that's hanging out at the crag.

Mountain Hardwear gave the S a stylishly offset zipper that looks good when you're in town post-adventure, but more importantly it's layer friendly—no more zipper-on-zipper discomfort or avenue for chill weather between those layered teeth. The jacket is also equipped with a tall collar for added protection against windy days, with elastic cuffs and a drawstring hem to lock in all your warmth while you play away the winter days.

i have barely used this and it's constantly losing down and has feathers poking through. even compared to my other 'ultra light' downs it is silly bad. i tried to get backcountry to just give me credit for a refund and they wouldnt do it. i started a process with mountain hardwear directly but they probably wont do anything stupid af. i miss when amazon and other e-retailers just did right by their customers. not like it's a one time order

Style is good.

I bought this Women's Ghost Whisperer because it is very stylish, and it claims to have 800 fills with 90% goose and 10% feathers. It claims and seems to be warm enough however, I went for a hike last Sunday and the weather was around 40 degrees. I had an inside full-sleeved thick shirt as a layer and still it didn't keep me warm. After hiking uphill for over a mile or so, my body warmed up and then I was able to take it off. I bought this so that I could wear it for my hike to Mt. Annapurna basecamp in Nepal but alas, I will have to return it no matter how beautiful the style is. Not recommended for East Coast and/or mountain winter. Maybe worn for late fall's chilly evenings with layers.

Stylish, but fragile

Love the unique design, but it started loosing down within a week of wear. The kangaroo pockets are great, but they stop at an unflattering location on my upper chest when fully zipped. I'm 5'2, so that may not be an issue for other folx.

Constant compliments with this one.

I've never seen a down jacket quite like this one. It takes everything good about a down jacket (lightweight, super warm, etc etc) and makes it really easy to layer. I wear it over a first layer and under a waterproof shell for snowshoeing in Colorado and it's the perfect amount of warmth, plus the zipper placement solves cold leaks/draft around your chest and doesn't rub against my ski bibs. Would recommend to anyone going on ski tours or hut trips or just anyone looking for unique looking down!

My “ Go To” jacket

Love this jacket! It is light weight, easy to pack and very warm . The only recommendation I would have is to add a pull cord at bottom to adjust and tighten at the waist if needed. It fits loose at the bottom. Great for hiking , it is shorter in style, great for bouldering and hiking. Highly recommend this awesome jacket!!!

Feminine and Functional!

Lately i'm finding that most outdoor apparel designed for women is just too long in the waist. The Women's Ghost Whisperer™ S Down Jacket is already my favorite addition to my winter wardrobe because it's a retro-feminine fit! Love the jacket, under my shell, or just as-is for a night out. One of the lightest weigh jackets I own, but plenty warm to battle the Vermont winters! Highly recommended.

New Stylish Look

This jacket is so cute! I’m so happy to have a new down jacket that has its own style. The first day I wore it I received so many compliments. It’s perfect to wear over a tee or to layer under a shell for cold weather conditions. The kangaroo pocket is perfect for keeping your hands warm on cool, windy days outdoors. This is the perfect jacket to wear at winter resorts, whether you are popping out for a coffee or a beer — I guarantee you will get compliments on your look and MH will have a hard time keeping this jacket in stock. Don’t wait to add this to your collection.
