Faster Than Ever.

Campagnolo's Bora wheels are legendary and for good reason. Chosen by the sport's fastest riders, Bora wheelsets refuse to flinch when sprinting to the finish of a Grand Tour stage or when called upon to launch an attack on a lumpy Ardennes classic. If you've ever wanted to ride the same wheels as the pros but in a clincher appointment, look no further than the Bora One 50 Wheelset - Clincher. We can only think of a handful of wheelsets that have this much sex appeal and inject a dose of speed to your bike. With the Bora One 50, Campagnolo brings this proven rim design used on the Bora Ultra and laces it to hubs spinning on Ultra Smooth Bearing (USB) hubs versus the pricier Ceramic Ultimate Level Technology (CULT) bearings. Despite these differences in hubs, the Bora One 50 Wheelset is still called on during the rough and tumble spring classics such as Roubaix.

The USB hub bodies are alloy instead of CULT's carbon, for an increase of about 50 grams. While we enjoy chasing grams as much as anyone, the money saved and the fact that the weight is centralized on the wheels, where it isn't as critical as further out, we'll take the tradeoff and have more money for race entries. Also, the USB has the same ceramic ball bearings as the CULT just without the Cronitect races. Even without the races, the USB bearings are a claimed 50% smoother than steel, which relates to more free speed on the open road.

The latest Bora rims have plumped up to 24.2 millimeters, up from a previous 20 millimeters. The wider rims help with a number of improvements including better handling and cornering, lower rolling resistance, and a smoother ride. The wider rim also achieves higher lateral stiffness and better aerodynamics while using today's broader tires. Larger tires help achieve a tubular-like ride with the convenience of mounting tires and the ability to change a flat on the side of the road. The width saves weight by letting Campagnolo build a more structurally sound rim with less material.

Since the Bora rim is essentially the same rim as its Ultra counterpart, it features Campy's new 3Diamant braking surface, which addresses some of the key braking issues we've had with carbon rims in the past. Campagnolo uses diamonds to hone the brake track to near perfection, removing a microscopic layer of imperfections and resin so that the pads contact a brake track of slightly textured carbon. This helps increase bite and reduces the hesitation time to slow associated with some carbon braking surfaces by increasing stopping power by 40% in wet conditions and 20% when it's dry. It also removes any surface imperfections on the rim so braking is smooth and pulse-free.

Campagnolo finishes off the Bora One 50s with a few more thoughtful details. The oversized rear flange gains additional stiffness for quicker power transfers for a responsive ride. The included quick releases have also been redesigned with an eye toward weight loss and aerodynamics. Returning features include the signature rear G3 spoke pattern, which helps balance spoke tension, improves power transfer, and helps balance the rim so the nominal imbalance caused by the valve stem hole and associated hardware is eliminated. Campy constructs and lays-up all of the carbon for the Boras in Vicenza, and every piece is X-rayed, scanning for any imperfections.
