Why We Like The Recon Inflatable Kayak

The Recon Inflatable Kayak is about as tough as they come, made with Kokopelli's burliest materials. This hardworking packraft features the same shape as the Nirvana series packrafts, designed to carve with fluid handling through the roughest of waters, only now it has heavy-duty PVC to defend against even the roughest of rocky encounters. Its self-bailing design eliminates the need for a spraydeck, and it's equipped with thigh-strap attachment points if you want to attach the 3-Point Thigh Strap Kit (sold separately) for more responsive handling in rapids.

This is the best piece of gear I've added to my collection in years. I already have a Kokopelli Hornet (which is super light and awesome for hiking up to alpine lakes) but wanted something for whitewater. It's a little heavier than your typical packraft, but still way lighter (by about 19lbs) than my old IK so it's easy to carry around and portage. It's got the light/fun factor of a packraft, but the stable/durable factor of an IK. I run class III in it no problem and it's like a little personal tank through rapids. I love the self-bailer because when you flip (and I do, often) it's really easy to self-rescue and get back into the boat. For places like the PNW too, where you're in and out of your boat a lot checking for wood, it's easy to hop out, scout, and hop back in. Really do not have enough good things to say about this little boat other than buy one asap!
