X Alpine Pro Trail Running Shoe

A lot of people feel the need to escape crowded streets and unforgiving pavement on their runs, but you take it one step further. Everyday trails aren't enough for you—you've got your sights set on summits and upper-mountain ridgelines. That's why the Salomon X Alpine Pro Trail Running Shoe will be a much-appreciated companion on all of your rugged trail runs. To meet the demands of steep and rocky trails this shoe loads up on features dedicated to grip and durability, starting with a special climbing zone in the outsole for technical ascents. Placed at the forefoot, this climbing zone provides targeted grip when you're up on your toes, while a special Carbon Edging Chassis in the midsole helps ensure a stable edge when you're darting over more rocks than you can count.

Meanwhile, the outsole rubber itself delivers reliable grip in all conditions, so whether you're slogging through the mud at lower elevations or scrambling through scree fields your traction will stay secure. The upper of the shoe was designed with durability in mind, with reinforcements in high-wear areas and a protective toe cap to guard your forefoot from unexpected confrontations with roots and rocks. Top it all off with Salomon's easy-to-use Quicklace adjustment system that delivers a snug and supportive fit in seconds, and you've got a shoe that's ready for anything you are.

Amazing Shoes! With one defect!

First off I'd like to say that I am an die hard salomon fan/customer, and an avid trail runner, mountain climber and previously ultra marathon runner. I have purchased way over 30 pairs of shoes from salomon, and have come across a recurring issue with the s-lab models, and in this case the XA Alpine Pro which I purchased in December. The cloth loops where the shoe lace goes through, end up tearing very often. In this case it happened much sooner that usual, but unfortunately it is a recurring issue. At this moment two have torn entirely and several are about to tear. Salomon could easily fix this extremely small, yet important issue by placing a little plastic piece of cylinder inside, the way they did with the Ultra Pros, and the way they've done with other models. But an even easier and less costly solution would be making the loop material a little thicker, and maybe a slightly more resistant material. Overall this are great shoe, I think one of my favorite! very similar to S-lab Wings (my all time favorite shoes), with a more resistant sole, plus I trail run and mountain climb with these, and the upgraded shoe toe material and sole material in the tip, is definitely a plus! They are super light weight, and very fresh! They feel perfectly snug! The width of the sole is a little thinner than the wings, especially in the heel area, which gives it a little more of a minimalist/technical feel to them, but I love them like that! Great shoe! Just needs this fixing!
